The story of Barry Jones starts the way a lot of crime stories do: with an alleged murder off a dusty highway in Tucson, Arizona. And for years, the story of this crime seemed familiar. A terrible tragedy followed by an investigation, a trial and then a conviction. But all of that changed earlier this year, when the United States Supreme Court took up Barry’s case, and came out with a decision that many experts say will have frightening impact on the nation’s justice system.
