>> Rachel: Welcome back! It’s time for Chompers, your morning and night toothbrushing show.

Pick a side on the top of your mouth, and make little circles with your brush all the way around each tooth.

>> Kids: 3, 2, 1 Brush!

>> Rachel: It’s bodies week on Chompers and tonight we’ve got the answer to this morning’s quiz!

How many times does the average grown-up’s heart beat each day? When you hear your guess, raise your hand way up high:

Is it

5 thousand time a day (SFX slow thump thump)

10 thousand times a day or (SFX faster thump thump)

100 thousand times a day (SFX fastest thump thump)

Switch your brushing to the other side of the top of your mouth. Don’t forget those front teeth! (SFX)

Ready for the answer? Give me a drumroll with your heart (SFX Thump thump thump). Oh wait, your heart is ALREADY giving me a drumroll.

How about you stomp your feet instead? Stomp your feet! (SFX DRUMROLL) and

The answer is ... a grown-up’s heart beats around 100 THOUSAND Times EVERY DAY!

100 thousand beats a day?! That’s a lot of beats (Music cue beat drops)

Switch your brushing to the bottom of your mouth, and give your tongue a brush too!

A grown-up’s heart can beat up to FORTY TWO MILLION times a year! But what’s even more amazing, is that a kid’s heart beats FASTER than a grown-up’s heart.

The same is true of small animals. Small animals, like mice (SFX MOUSE),* have much faster heart beats than large animals, like an elephant (SFX ELEPHANT).

Switch to the other side of the bottom of your mouth, and make sure to brush the molars all the way in the back!

Your heart, blood vessels, and all your blood, make up what is called the Cardiovascular system. Cardio means heart, and vascular means veins! Heart and veins, Cardiovascular

By the way, did you know that brushing your teeth is good for your heart too?!

That’s it for Chompers tonight. Great job brushing!

Keep that heart, and those teeth, healthy by coming back to Chompers tomorrow for another daily dose of dental hygiene. Until then, rinse with water before you…

>> Kids: 3, 2, 1 spit!
