>> Rachel: Good morning, it’s time for Chompers: your morning and night toothbrushing show.

It’s Snacks week, and today we’ve got RIDDLES on the menu!

Start brushing on the top of your mouth on one side, but don’t brush too hard.

>> KIDS: 3, 2, 1 brush!

>> Rachel: Here’s your first one:

A white, creamy food

Served in a bowl or a cup

Add fruit and granola

For a healthy snack to eat up

What snack am I talking about?

(PAUSE)

>> GROUP: YOGURT!

>> Rachel: Did you know most yogurt is made by adding bacteria to milk? (EEWWW) It sounds gross but it’s what gives yogurt it’s slightly tangy flavor!

Switch your brushing to the other side of the top of your mouth, and brush your molars in the back too.

When you think of yogurt, you might think of the dairy kind that’s made with cow’s milk (SFX MOO). But yogurt can be made from lots of different milks. It can be made with milk from other animals, like goats and sheep (SFX BAAA). And it can be made with milk that comes from plants, instead of animals -- like almond milk, soy bean milk, or coconut milk!

Switch to the bottom of your mouth, pick a side and keep brushing!

Here’s your next riddle:

You can eat it with vegetables

Or scoop it up with pita chips

Spread it on a sandwich

It’s a mashed up chickpea dip

What snack is this?

>> GROUP: HUMMUS

>> Rachel: Hummus is a creamy, thick spread made with chickpeas, and flavorings like olive oil, lemon and salt.

Switch to the other side of the bottom of your mouth, but keep making circles around each tooth with your brush.

You can dip veggies in hummus, put it on a pita bread and crackers, (SFX CRUNCH CRUNCH) or spread it on a sandwich for extra flavor. If you want to experiment with your hummus, you can ask your grown up to mix in a new spice like smoked paprika, or vegetables like roasted red peppers!

That’s it for Chompers today, but come back for more riddles tonight. Until then,

>> KIDS: 3, 2, 1 spit!!
