>> Rachel: Oh hey again! It’s time for Chompers, your morning and night toothbrushing show.

Start brushing on the top of your mouth on one side and brush all the way around each tooth.

>> KIDS: 3, 2, 1 brush

>> Rachel: It’s Poetry Week, and today we want to hear you giggling because we’ve got some jokes for you.

Here’s your first one:

Knock knock

>> KIDS: Who’s there?

>> Rachel: Someone who makes rhymes

>> KIDS: Oh. You’re a poet.

>> Rachel: I am? Wow. I’m a poet, and I didn’t know it.

Switch to the other side of the top of your mouth, and brush the molars in the way back.

What’s a wrestlers favorite kind of poetry?

>> KIDS: I don’t know.

>> Rachel: SLAM poetry!

A poetry SLAM is where poets share their poems and compete to see who can do the best job.  Judges or the audience say who they think did the best, and that person is the winner. Poetry performed at a poetry slam is called … slam poetry!

Switch to the bottom of your mouth, and brush the inside, outside and chewing side of each tooth

Here’s another joke:

What do you get if you win the poetry lottery?

>> KID: WHAT?

>> Rachel: Free verse

The verse is free! You don’t have to pay for it!

>> KIDS: Huh?

CRICKETS

>> Rachel: Ok, this is a tough crowd. I’ll explain after you Switch to the other side of the bottom of your mouth, and keep on brushing

Free verse is poetry that doesn’t have any rules. For a long long time poetry had a LOT of rules -- we’ve been learning some of them this week!   Free verse gets rid of all that stuff … so if you’re a poet with a lot of wild ideas, writing free verse really is like winning the poetry lottery!

That's it for Chompers today, great job brushing. Come back tonight for more poetry jokes! Until then, rinse with water before you

>> KIDS: 3, 2, 1 spit
