First up: Basketball Basketball gets its name from exactly what the game is: putting a ball into a basket!

>>RACHEL: In the United States, big basketball stars play in the NBA, and WNBA. But you don’t have to be in the NBA or WNBA to play the game, all you need is a ball, and a basket to go shoot some hoops.
So is basketball the most popular sport in the world, or is it cricket?

Cricket is a game played with a small, hard ball and a flat, wooden bat!

>>RACHEL: Cricket is played by two teams, who score points by running between WICKETS.
WICKETS are small wooden posts. and in cricket, the way you score points, is by running between the WICKETS.

So is cricket the most popular sport, or could it be soccer?
The game we call soccer in the United States is called football almost everywhere else in the world. And that name makes a lot of sense, because game is played with your foot.
