>> Rachel: Welcome back, it’s time for Chompers, your morning and night toothbrushing show.

Start brushing on the top of your mouth on one side, and don’t brush too hard

>> Kids: 3, 2, 1 brush!

>> Rachel: It’s Grosser Week, and tonight we have more yucky riddles for you to figure out. (SFX Yuk) Here’s your first one:

Don’t use this for a candle!

It’s the stuff inside your ear

And if you have too much of it

It can be hard to hear

What is it? Find out after you switch to the other side of the top of your mouth and give your tongue a brush too

The answer is…:

>> GROUP: Ear Wax

>> Rachel: Ear wax is the sticky stuff that can sometimes build up inside your ears. Ear wax can be bright yellow or brownish, and sometimes smells like a mix between stinky cheese and sweaty feet. (SFX YUCK) but don’t go digging all that wax out of your ears! Ear wax is important for keeping your ears healthy because it keeps bad stuff, like dust and bacteria, from getting into your ears.

Switch to the bottom of your mouth, and brush the molars all the way in the back

Here’s your next riddle:

This forms after a cut or scrape

So that it won’t get infected

Its dry, and thick, and crusty

And it keeps new skin protected

What is this thing? Shout it out!

>> GROUP: A SCAB!

>> Rachel: A scab! Have you ever had a cut or scrape after you fall? A scab is the dry, crusty stuff that forms on your cut while its healing.

Switch to the other side of the bottom of your mouth, and keep brushing.

Scabs may look gross, but they are your bodies way of keeping you healthy. A scab keeps your cut safe, by keeping out any bacteria that might try to get in and make you sick. They also protect the new skin that is growing over your cut. If you pick at a scab, sometimes your cut will have to start healing all over again, and you might even get a scar! So leave your scabs alone, and pick your nose instead! (SFX EW)

That’s it for Chompers tonight, but we’ll be back with more gross facts tomorrow. Until then,

>> Kids: 3, 2, 1 spit.
