>>RACHEL: It’s Everybody Week, and tonight we have more riddles for you!

Here’s your first one.

In case of an emergency

I’m am sounding the alarm

Except I give off bursts of light

To keep you safe from harm

What am I? Shout it out.

>>GROUP: A Strobe Warning Light

>>RACHEL: A Strobe Warning Light!

Switch your brushing to the other side of the top of your mouth…

[SWITCH BELL]

>>RACHEL: -and give your tongue a brush too.

Have you ever had a fire drill at school?

[FIRE ALARM]

>>RACHEL: Normally the fire alarm will go off and everyone has to practice leaving the building. But you might also SEE the fire alarm flash a bright light! This is called a strobe warning light, and its there to warn anyone who is deaf of hard of hearing that the alarm is going off!

Someone who is deaf or hard of hearing might even have a strobe warning light on their telephone, to tell them when it’s ringing.

 [TELEPHONE RINGS]

[MUSIC ENDS]

>>RACHEL: Switch your brushing to the bottom of your mouth…

[SWITCH BELL]

>>RACHEL: -and don’t forget the molars in the way back.

Here’s your next riddle:

You might wear me behind your ear

And I help to make things loud

Though I don’t work for everyone

For some I help with sound

What am I?

[MUSIC BEGINS]

>>GROUP: A Hearing Aid!

>>RACHEL: A Hearing Aid!

Switch your brushing to the other side of the bottom of your mouth…

[SWITCH BELL]

>>RACHEL: -and brush your front teeth, too.

A hearing aid is something people use... to make sounds louder! People of all ages can have trouble hearing and use a hearing aid! Some are just on the inside of the ear, and some have wires that wrap behind the ear. They almost work like a microphone, listening to what’s around you and making those sounds louder.
