>> Rachel: Good morning, it's time for Chompers, your morning and night toothbrushing show.
Today our friend Jasmine is here with a special interview. Jasmine, take it away.
>> Jasmine: Thanks!
Start brushing on the top of your mouth on one side, and brush the inside, outside and chewing side of each tooth
>> KIDS: 3, 2, 1 brush!
>> Jasmine: Its Sounds Week. So today we're talking with someone who knows a lot about sound. Our friend Marcus.
>> Marcus: Hi I'm Marcus and I'm the audio engineer for Chompers.
>> Jasmine: and what does an audio engineer do?
>> Marcus: An audio engineer is someone who works with recorded sounds. So if we're talking about chompers I take all of the sounds that make up an episode of chompers. So the switch bells and all the talking and all the farts and the music and I put it all together and kind of get it ready so that when you listen to it at home it sounds the way that it does.
>> Jasmine: Switch to the other side of the top of your mouth, and don’t brush too hard. What are some of the different ways that you play with sounds.
>> Marcus: So sometimes in Chompers we want to change the way that the voices sound. So sort of suggest a space. So if you want to sound like you're in a cave we could put on a big reverb sound so it's it sounds like this:

>> Jasmine: So it sounds like my voice is echoing off the walls [00:15:34][5.6] And it makes me sound like I’m in a cave! Switch to the bottom of your mouth, and make sure you’re brushing, the inside, outside and chewing side of each tooth. OK so you said that you take all of the farts sounds and bells and stuff. So What are those sounds called?
>> Marcus: So those sounds are called sound effects and we use sound effects to basically help tell the story right.So if the story that we're telling takes place at a baseball game. We want to find a sound that'll put you at a baseball game. So maybe we take you know the sound of the ball hitting the bat and then a crowd clapping. And those sounds make you feel like you’re at a baseball game.
>> Jasmine: Switch to the other side of the bottom of your mouth, and give your tongue a brush too. So Marcus you make a lot of the music that we use. Why do we even use music on chompers?
>> Marcus: We use music to help bring the story to life help you feel the story and feel what the story is about and get excited about the story. If we're telling a story that's really happy we might want to have happy music right. It’s maybe music that's really fast and exciting.Maybe something like this.....

>> Marcus: And if we’re telling you about a mystery we’d put some spooky music. It’s helping you feel the story.
